(Inland Empire) – It is a family adventure, especially for the kids! This year’s 22nd annual Zooccasion is to be held in the Moonridge Animal Park on Saturday and Sunday, July 3-4 from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

Children have an excellent opportunity to learn about the Alpine animals living in the Moonridge Animal Park. They can become a “wildlife” expert by playing three games: What are Baby Animals Called, Identify Animals by their Tracks, and Identify Animals in the Park. After answering all the questions by exploring the park, a Wildlife Expert button can be earned. Find out what animals eat and make animal puppets. Also you can learn about snakes by coloring a snake and then turning it into a hanging snake mobile. Steve Cain will be at the park with his guitar and song from 10:30AM to noon. At noon we will have a half hour animal presentation, and later in the day a guided animal feeding tour at 3:00 PM. Come to the park hungry and enjoy eating fancy hot dogs with all the fixings.

Regular park admission is $9 for ages 11 – 59; $6 for ages 3-10 and seniors 60 plus, and free to children under 3. Members of the Friends of the Moonridge Zoo are admitted free. If you are not a member, you can join while at the Animal Park. Parking is also free. For more information about Zooccasion, visit our website www.moonridgezoo.org and select Events or call the Friends of the Moonridge Zoo (909) 878-4200.

The Zooccasion is sponsored by The Friends of the Moonridge Zoo, which was formed in 1989 as a non-profit organization whose purpose is to support the Moonridge Animal Park through: (1) Educating the public regarding treatment, protection, and conservation of wildlife; (2) Recruiting and coordinating zoo volunteers; and (3) Fundraising. The Moonridge Animal Park is Big Bear’s wildlife animal sanctuary and rehabilitation center founded in 1959. It is the only zoo in San Bernardino County, and the only Alpine zoo in the United States specializing in alpine wildlife.
