U.S. Congressman Jerry Lewis – 41st District of California

SAN BERNARDINO – Congressman Jerry Lewis is encouraging small business owners and anyone who would like to become their own boss to attend a free workshop on Small Business Development on August 17 at California State University, San Bernardino.

“Our economy’s most urgent need is jobs, and the best job-creators in America are small businesses – the way to reduce our high unemployment is to get that small business engine revving,” said Lewis, who has made small business development a priority throughout his career in Congress. “I am hopeful that this workshop by the Small Business Administration, Cal State San Bernardino and local lenders will provide information to help our business owners get our economy moving.”

The workshop will provide small business owners and entrepreneurs opportunities to hear from business experts about how to expand an existing business or build a new one.  Representatives from the Inland Empire Center for Entrepreneurship, the Small Business Administration and San Bernardino County will be available to speak with individuals about lending programs and business promotion programs.  County officials will also speak about small business contract opportunities with local government.

Congressman Lewis will be joined by Dr. Albert Karnig, President of CSU San Bernardino, Supervisor Josie Gonzales and the regional SBA director.  Featured speakers include Michael Stull, the Inland Empire Center for Entrepreneurship director and Dr. John Husing.  Dr. Husing will offer observations on the local economy and perspectives on growth opportunities and challenges.

The workshop will be held in the Obershaw Dining Room in the Santos Manuel Student Union Meeting Complex. Free parking is available in Lot D on the campus. Directions are available on the CSUSB web site.
