New Index will track Inland Southern California's Transportation and Logistics Activity
CLAREMONT, Calif., January 4, 2006 - Transportation and logistics is one of Inland Southern California's largest industries, yet very little has been done up to now to track the industry locally. To establish a consolidated index that tracks the logistics industry, more than 3,500 regional professionals are being asked to participate in a confidential Web-based survey.
"This quarterly research study will monitor the region's current transportation and logistics activity and expectations for future movement," says Greg Timpany, research director of Wilkin Guge Marketing. "The data will create a primary index and help identify the trends and challenges facing the industry."
"Logistics could surpass manufacturing as one of the region's top economic drivers and creators of jobs in the near future," said Bob Dixon, editor of The Business Press, which will publish the quarterly index. "It is critical that we build a real understanding of the industry's economic impact and the issues it faces. The Inland Empire Freight Index will be a key component of that discussion."
The Inland Empire Freight Index Web-based survey is open to invited professionals from December 27, 2006 through January 22, 2007. A summary of the results will be shared with all respondents and made available to the media in 2007. The next quarterly Inland Empire Freight Index is slated for March 2007.
Wilkin Guge Marketing is conducting the quarterly research study with support from The Press-Enterprise and The Business Press.
