County of San Bernardino Welcomes International Trade veteran Moises Cisneros to the Economic Development Agency

Cisneros to lead trade efforts for San Bernardino County

SAN BERNARDINO, CA -Moises Cisneros, one of California's leading international trade professionals, has joined the County of San Bernardino Economic Development Agency to lead trade efforts. Cisneros, the new International Trade Manager, joined the agency last week.

Cisneros developed the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce's International Trade office beginning in 2002. In that capacity, he built coalitions among private businesses and government, and connected local businesses with overseas counterparts and the global marketplace.

"When you talk to the trade community in Southern California, they see that San Bernardino County is an integral part of international trade," Cisneros said. "I came here to be part of that tremendous growth."

With three international airports, key railway and roadway corridors and proximity to the coastal ports, San Bernardino County is already developing a reputation as a gateway to trade and global commerce.

"As we work to become a global center for commerce - and draw the quality jobs that come with trade - we need people well versed in developing international trade," said Bill Postmus, Chairman of the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors. "Moises brings that key expertise to our team."

Cisneros joins San Bernardino County as it prepares for its first trade mission to China in November. He has extensive international experience, having organized trade missions to Latin America, Europe and Asia. As part of the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce, Cisneros promoted Los Angeles overseas and helped draw foreign investment to Southern California. In his new capacity, he will work to bring jobs and business investment inland to San Bernardino County.

"San Bernardino County has a unique opportunity to use globalization to improve the quality of life for its residents by drawing better jobs and business investment," said Brian McGowan, Administrator of the Economic Development Agency.

Cisneros also served on the City of Los Angeles' Committee on International Trade, Latin America & Canada and numerous industry groups related to trade. His work on an advisory board to Los Angeles Mayors James Hahn and Antonio Villaraigosa helped form the new Mayor's Office of International Trade in Los Angeles. Cisneros also administered the Chamber's International Trade and Investments Committee.

A native of Los Angeles, Cisneros is a graduate of the University of Southern California. He spent seven years with the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce.
